It's less detailed, but smoother. I'd say it's about the same. For me, I hate hiding behind detail. If that's your idea, then more power to ya.

I do like this new color style. It's very pretty. The highlights look really well placed and your overall character looks more alive with this technique; like he was about to jump off the page.

I haven't watched you long enough to know what "usual" is, but I do like the soft color changes and lighting/shadowing here. Some of the edges look a little rough, both with the lineart and the coloring, but I think that's just because you were using this as practice, right? It looks great, the character is nicely drawn!
