You know VivaldiVixen cosplay is about dressing up as your favourite character no matter your size, race, shape and gender, every person has the right to cosplay who ever they want, you telling someone to cosplay to their shape and race is crude. My sister and her best friend worked hard on their cosplay and for you say such a STUPID thing complete annoys me you could of ignored the photo and gone on with your day but you had to post a comment knowing that people would call you on it. Seriously you didn't say sorry NOT ONCE I truly think you should shut up and stop commenting on this photo cause your just digging yourself deeper in the hole. Please step away from the internet or rethink your views of cosplay because PEOPLE CAN COSPLAY WHOEVER THEY WANT NO MATTER HOW THEY LOOK.

i would just like to say i am the ivy it is a really unflattering angle for both my friend and i
but i am not actually "plus size" not that i would have a problem if i was.
cosplay is not about finding a character who you look like THAT IS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE
i will continue complying as long as i want
i am ashamed that our costumes have come under such scrutiny. especially about our weight why is that the issue
vivaldivixen i disagree with your "definition" of cosplay so so much but i won't get into that..
i had fun i wish there were better photos of me
then again i rarely take photos of my cosplays
but thnk you all who enjoyed out cosplays..
i will be wearing my friends harley sometime soon, but i wil be wearing the cowl..hood.. hat thing
she did not want to wear it because she thought she look to mature but that is her choice
i think my friend looks hot a shit i look like a goober
and if you try to tell people what they can and can't cosplay you must have a few screws loose.. i didn't know you were the authority on cosplay

Hey Mayhem.
I really enjoyed your cosplay as Ivy and your friend kawaiitier's Harley. I found it was really well down and you guys rocked it! You both are extremely wonderful and beautiful which is the reason why I added it to my album here. If you feel uncomfortable about the pose or the negative attention this is receiving (it has actually been getting a ton of positive feedback and attention from many people and groups), I can remove it if you'd like.
But I do think this is a wonderful photo that really shows your outfits well, regardless of the pose. It has gotten a lot of likes and additions to/from groups and many people have added it to their favorites; must be very well liked!

Whoever you two are, you rocked the shit out of those costumes! I'm loving this photo and the make-up on her is flawless, her dimples are just adorable.

All I see are two devoted fans in epic costumes. Haters seriously can go fuck themselves. These ladies have style, and aren't afraid to show it! If the first thing you look at in cosplay is "whether or not it's accurate, in physics and how the costume's done', then you clearly are misplaced here.

Cosplay is for people who love characters, and whose dream is it to express their fandom in costumes, in whatever way they fancy. Rock on! !

Sorry, I should rephrase. They are actually an inspiration to anyone who does not 100% fit the character they want to cosplay, no matter what their body size or physical looks. Cosplay is all about having fun and paying homage to the characters and series we love the most, and it doesn't matter what size you are. As someone once told me "Don't be afraid to cosplay a certain character. Don't try to fit yourself to the cosplay, fit the cosplay to you." And that is what these girls did. They made the costumes appropriate to their body types and comfort levels, and it shows. ^_^

Well said. I always have a last minute panic that I'm not body-perfect enough when I'm about to wear Harley, in fact, most female cosplayers I know go through similar worries. Its so unnecessary! God forbid we should all have fun and be treated as equal...

And actually this Harley, whoever she is, has the PERFECT face for the character.

I know this is going to be so mean but I just can't contain it anymore I'm really really sorry but fat girls should not cosplay. like.. at all. EVER. I know I know that's rude and blah blah but... really.. I mean, choose the cosplay right for your body type, girls, please! Maybe try something like Ursla from the little mermaid or something. She's a beautiful woman with a larger body type! But really.. yeah.

I'm sorry my body offends you but I fucking love how I look and I think you need to get the fuck off your high horse. And also it is fucking offensive to tell me to cosplay Ursula. "Hey, you're fat! You should cosplay ugly, fat women because you're ugly and fat!" Thank you for that self-cofidence boost.

News Flash: You're not a special snowflake, nor were you asked for your opinion.

MysticIridic In reply to kawaiitier [2012-08-27 18:18:51 +0000 UTC]

Personally I chose Ursula because I believe she's beautiful. A few months from now if you read over all this again you'll realize I was trying to be helpful. I have no problem with your body and all I was saying was tall people should play tall people, short people short people, thin people thin people chunkey chunkey wide wide and fat fat. And yes, they're all different. I would not cosplay certain characters because I have wide hips and if a character does not have wide hips, I believe it respectful to the character to not cosplay them. I'm not after you because you're heavy (and u carry ur weight well btw) I'm after you because you're cosplaying a character that you don't match the physical features. That's all.

no amount of validation to your point will convince me of your opinion
let me guess people should only cosplay characters with the same skin colour or nationality..
you need to realize you are a GIANT hypocrite to try to tell us not to cosplay when your fucking picture is a "bastardization" of harley NEXT TIME YOU WANT TO ATTACK PEOPLE BASED ON WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE
TAKE A STEP BACK AND REALIZE YOU ARE NO BOUQUET OF ROSES YOURSELF

I love how you guys are supposed to be all "love everyone and body types and people for who they are and judge no one and blah blah blah" but you're all singling me out for having a FUCKING OPINION. Why don't you all go fuck yourselves until you can have a civil goddamned conversation! I've been being civil with you fucking cunt liking bitches for months now and I'm SICK OF IT. FUCK OFF! I can express myself as much as I want and YOU'RE the fucking Hypocrites for saying "They're free to express themselves but you're not!" So don't fucking talk to me about hypocracy! And by the way, LIFE ISN'T PRETTY. You want the truth? YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE HARLEY QUINN. Neither do I. I know that. As I've said before, I would never wear my cosplay out. IT'S DISRESPECTFUL TO THE CHARACTER. You can all say as much as you want about loving a character and free expression and whatever other BULLSHIT you wanna spew. I hate Arkham Asylum Harley Quinn I think she's fucking ridiculous and I'm not too keen on Arkham City Harley either! I FUCKING HATE the Heath Ledger Joker! I think he played the part wonderfully and it was one of his best roles and he did not die in vein, it was wonderfully ARTFULLY portrayed, but IT WASN'T THE GODDAMNED JOKER! Does NOBODY RESPECT CONTINUITY ANYMORE?! HARLEY ISN'T BLACK. HARLEY ISN'T FAT. HARLEY ISN'T BRUNETTE OR THICK OR TAUNT OR LANKEY OR ANYFUCKINGTHING OTHER THAN WHAT THE CHARACTER WAS ORIGINALLY INTENTED TO BE WHICH IS a SMALL BREASTED HIPPY ACROBATIC GYMNAST BODY TYPE WHO'S SHORT WITH SHORT BLONDE CURLY HAIR USUALLY UP IN PONYTAILS WITH BIG LIPS AND BLUE EYES AND RESPECT THE GODDAMNED CHARACTER. IF THAT'S NOT YOU, YOU SHOULDN'T COSPLAY IT. YOU ALL JUST DON'T FUCKING GET IT DO YOU?! I'M NOT PISSED AT YOU, I'M PISSED ON HER BEHALF! IF YOU'RE A BEAUTIFUL BIG GIRL, YOU DON'T WANT SOME LANKY FUCKING ANOREXIC PRETENDING TO BE YOU, WOULD YOU? SHOW SOME FUCKING RESPECT AND GET OFF MY FUCKING ASS. please. this is the last i want to hear of this. these are all the words I can muster on this topic anymore. i don't want any more of your hate or opinion or even if you agree just keep it to yourself or tell somebody else because I just don't care anymore and I'm telling you this so you don't waste YOUR time. I won't read any more messages from this posting, I'll only delete them as soon as I get them so.. don't waste your time and just let me be as i've asked so many times before. I'm done.

Obviously you are too ignorant to understand the nature of this conversation. If you'd read carefully and read other comments I've posted you'll note that I've called the above women beautiful on many occasions and talented and I believe it is so. The argument was on cosplay and cosplay alone, nothing to do with weight or my opinion of women's weight. As I said before, I believe the above women are beautiful; the only problem I have is the cosplay itself which I believe that one should only cosplay when their physical attributes meet those of the character. And YOU are what is wrong with this world but I'm lucky I am a strong confident women who does not give in to others berations and you may say as many nasty things to me as you wish but it will not change my opinions. I believe what I believe and you cannot take that from me.

You're taking this way out of hand. Like I said before, it's just my opinion! As said earlier which you obviously didn't understand, you can't bring a football to a tennis game. I'm not saying that large women CAN'T cosplay, it's just my opinion, waaaaay back when I first learned what cosplay was, I learned that you find characters that look like you, and do NOT EVER change a character just because you don't look like them. if that's the case, choose another character. It's the way cosplay should be done in my mind. I'm not saying people aren't free to do what they wish and be proud of it, it's my personal opinion that characters should be retained in their true image. that's all! No cosplay is perfect, but I think each one should be as close to as possible. Again, just my opinion. I know for a fact each person has some character out there that looks a lot like them. Mine, for example would probably be nudge from the maximum ride manga. Do I love Harley Quinn? Yes! Of course! But I look nothing like her.. So I've excepted the fact that a lot of people would be upset if a curly black haired half breed was walking around trying to be Harley Quinn.. You're right, I don't have blue eyes or blonde hair. *shrugs* I have to work with what God gave me. And besides, doing it my way also encourages belief and confidence in ones self- finding beautiful characters who resemble you instead of trying to change yourself to be something you're not..

You have no interest in listening to the valid points I have to say and all you want to do is make me look like a villain and make yourself look like a hero for putting me down but all you wanna do is fight and it's just sad. I have nothing left to say to you since you won't listen to reason. If you have an excess of hate and anger, I suggest you take it out somewhere else because I'm not playing your game any longer. You are just idiotic for letting this go as long as you did. I continued hoping there was some kind of human behind the words but there's not. There's just a pathetic, sad little girl.

Then your beliefs are bad and you should feel bad. I'm not the ignorant one here, honey. You're not only ignorant but so deeply ignorant that you're painfully deluded about the reality of your attitudes. Cosplay is a hobby, full stop - anyone can do it no matter what they look like. To say otherwise is to police other people's bodies, which is a fucked up, oppressive thing to do. That's what you're doing. You can bleat all you like about how you're strong and confident but if that were really true - why the fuck does it matter if a couple of fat babes cosplay? People's attitudes to fat bodies usually have to do with their own insecurities. Maybe you just need to deal with whatever stigma you personally feel around fat before going around making stupid comments about what other people "should" be doing with their bodies.

No no, I agree! The costumes are well done! That's why I'd like to see them do a character more to their body type then it would look just perfect! Honestly if a skinny girl tried to do a cosplay of say, Ursla, I'd be just as upset. I think if you're trying to do a cosplay, try not to change yourself, but find the characters that look most akin to you!

👍: 0 ⏩: 4

daintynymph In reply to MysticIridic [2012-05-02 14:37:34 +0000 UTC]

I actually think it's really cool when someone cosplays a character of a different race, if it's done properly. I read an article on how white people shouldn't cosplay as anime characters, and the first image was a group of Asian girls very effectively cosplaying Disney princesses. You don't have to fit every part of your character to do a good cosplay, just emphasize the parts that do fit. Attitude is a huge part of it, which is difficult to get across in a photo sometimes.

Of course this is all MY opinion, which means that only really matters for costumes I do myself. I appreciate that you are sticking to your opinions and beliefs and trying to keep the conversation civil. Too many people who have unpopular beliefs try to force them upon others and argue with insults. Keep on staying both genuine and tactful!

you really though she was genuine and tactful? She said "fat girls shouldn't cosplay at all... EVER"... she was basically saying fat girls should never enjoy themselves or wear anything they enjoy... should hide themselves in shame and not 'inflict' their bodies on other people. It might be genuine but it sure as heck isn't tactful. It's mean and vicious as hell.

Don't put words in my mouth. What I left out of that sentence was "as Harley Quinn" Because if you see lower in the same comment I did suggest trying something more to their body type. I don't know why you're so hellbent on making me a chubby hater; I don't hate fat people or find them disgusting at all. Majority of the time I find people who are considered "overweight" to be much more beautiful than the paper toothpicks walking around nowadays. Stop putting words in my mouth.
