Description Ok, I didn't have a name except Genie and I got to thinking, this is my version of a Genie, If one comes out of a lamp he had better look like this. Anyway, I have been playing around with this on and off when I really have three other things I need to be working on, but I have to do something for me everyonce in awhile to keep it a lot of fun.

I had a little trouble with the smoke so help on that please. I think the problem is that I drew it and didn't add it as actual smoke later, I really don't know if that make sense or not. Anyway, I have it saved in a kazillion layers still so I can still play with it.

Oh, the flowers, vines, floor, lattice with wall screen in front and behind and clothing were all researched out so I really don't want to change them to a more western style or idea, I was trying to hit on as authentic feel as possible but I know I have taken a few liberties to suit my tastes but I don't want to stray too much.

Yae! I remember this one when you were still working on it. I think the smoke is just fine, but I don't know that much about Photoshop. Awesome!

Wonderful, I sooooo love the smoke/mist big time. The patterns on the walls are goregous! So simple and yet look really great!

wooohoo...Kip you did a great job researching and rendering...the smoke i don't know about cause i don't know anything about Photoshop but i do remeber a picture you did that i really liked called "Forbidden" i think it was and you did two versions one pencil one colored but the point was you did these transparent curtains and i think it might work for the smoke also...i loved those curtians..i been trying to do something similiar (the transparent effect i mean) with questionable results...oh and i couldn't imagine a genie being any other color.. peace

Yes, I just lowered the opacity on that one I think. If you have the tablet already and photoshop, that is what you do. The problem is, I didn't draw or color the background completely on this. I drew the smoke as a solid yet I should have drawn in all of the lattice and colored it for the image and I didn't. If I had, I could have lowered the opacity yet again and you would have seen the background through it on this. Anyway, I'll figure something out. Thanks for liking it.

i think the gray areas of the smoke detract from the over all effect...maybe if you when with lighter shades of blue ...i mean theres plenty of clouds that don't look transparent...those little fairy light lights playing around the smoke is a great touch...

but the rest of it is mint....Kat thought it was great...she also wanted to know if i thought he would sound like Robin Williams when he spoke...i told her to be quite and go back to her book keeping...its really been a pisser ever since she moved her desk around so she sits behind me when i'm working...peace

Hehee, I thought of the Robin Williams voice and that genie too. I dunno, I think more of the old stop motion Sinbad type I guess, just not evil.

Smokes are always hard to do... I don't know what sort of brushes you have available in Photoshop, but you should test out some of those Dry Media brushes with the Smudge Tool to try and get that effect. I sometimes use the Render -> Clouds and then play around with the layer modes while erasing the cloud layer to fit certain places... Don't know if this will help. But the blue on the Genie looks really good and nice work on the details!

Someone here made a brush called 'dark fog', it works well for smoke and clouds

Really? I'd love to find it because the smoke here looks too opaque and looks like dirty cotton flying in front of him. Thanks, I guess I can search for that by title?
