Description
Here we go, our first Monterey Bay Aquarium photo, and what better way to start than with one of the biggest highlights of the trip: the sea otters. Now, me taking pictures of otters is nothing new, but they're usually river otters. Sea Otters are something I don't remember seeing much of before, so seeing them here was a special treat. The three otters in this enclosure were non-releasable, but they still help contribute to their species by acting as surrogate companions or parents to any wild otters that are rescued for rehabilitation. When I heard of this during the training session, I was fascinated and amazed. Not only are they acting as ambassadors for their species, but they're also helping their brethren out in the wild. It just made me love seeing these otters so much more.
