EDIT (2010): did a REALLY quick fix of this because I found the source file, and there were a couple of things about it that were driving me NUTS!!! Still a lot I'd fix if I wanted to put more time into it, but oh well.

I think the background works fine; it's like it's a design that's inspired by nature...and it works because of Julia's personality and history.

Details; WHAT
Seriously, this is really amazing work. There's a lot of texture to be found on this headshot, such as the headband, her leather top, and even her earrings. I'm really impressed by the skin tones and the touches of details there as well. Also, the forest setting seems to reflect a bit in her hair, which is such a nice touch and suggests she uses a terrific shampoo to get that kind of shine.
...okay, I'm done geeking now. Really.

Thank you!! Just promise you won't look too closely at some of the textures -- her headband texture doesn't wrap around her head the way the cloth does, for example. Shame on me for being lazy...

The headband was a complete fluke, haha...I was playing around with different painted pattern overlays and stuff and it ended up working out. O_o Go figure!!

This is by far the best Julia fanart I've ever seen. Her eyes are so alive! I love all the wee details and can I steal your ability to do such wonderful skintones please? Or at least borrow it for a while?

OMG Julia!!!! There was only like 5 really good pictures on deviantart as a whole lol. Now there's six. Now that Jun's gone, Julia has taken the place as my favorite (but if Jun ever comes back, all bets are off!)
