Yes, he DID fix his wand first in the book, which is why it's even more of a shame that he didn't in the movie. Alas!

I can think of a few really good reasons why he would snap it actually, I just wish he had done a few little things with it first. Though I guess it was better that such power not be allowed to ever fall into the wrong hands again. Thanks!

But in the book, he fixed his wand and then put the elder wand back in dumbledore's grave. I don't think anyone knew it was going back there, but he wanted to break its power

This way they didn't have to film a whole new scene of him opening up Dumbledore's grave and also the effects of fixing his wand? Ha ha, I don't know. There are reasons, I'm sure. But still.

Yeah, but the smallest things make the biggest differences

That's a good point, a bit more tattered would have added a nice element of bleakness to this. It was a pretty quick sketch though, I didn't intend on ever really showing it to the general public, ha ha. And it's true, the ending could have gone a few different ways, but overall I was pretty satisfied. Thank you!

Right on, thanks. It's surprising the feeling you can sometimes get with a pretty simple line drawing and some basic shading.
