well it sort of reminds me of a hard shell diving suit. i just feel like this guy is designed to be in high pressure areas. the chest looks like its meant to stand the tremendous pressures at the bottom of the ocean, and encase of emergency the chest (cockpit) is designed to jettison the limbs and rise to the surface
