In class yesterday I had to start a sci-fi portrait on the spot, and had no references to go from, so I began just throwing basic shapes and patterns onto my gesso-board without any initial scrap to look at. After a few minutes, my friend from class offered to let me use my iphone to snap off a few shots of her wearing a beanie, which helped me nail down some of the lighting angles I will need to make this painting 'read' properly. It has to be finished by tomorrow afternoon, so this is what I'm currently working on. I'll post some of the following steps (at least one lol), for those that may enjoy that. (I dropped a couple blending modes onto the original photo in photoshop, to make it easier to see the drawing. I was using my phone camera in class, so the quality needed some love before posting).
