Description

Kel watched the pale figure slowly float away as he fought to free himself from Vegrail's grip on his legs.

The pair had discussed it for days. Kel needed to return to his home plane, but he couldn't bear to leave Jonathan. The bubbly Basilisk and the psychotic Dy'kletiun had become impossibly close in the year that Kel had spent in Totchil and it was near impossible to separate them. They complimented each other beautifully, with Jonathan learning to become slightly more comfortable in crowds and Kel learning to have fun every once in a while. Thus, they had reached the decision that Kel would try to bring the Basilisk through the jump-gate back to his home plane.

They had gone into the endeavor with the confidence of youth. Jonathan had assured Kel on multiple occasions that he was strong enough to make it through. Going through the gate was a stressful endeavor for creatures that were unaccustomed to it, but it wasn't impossible. On normal occasions though, the passenger was small enough for the Dy to securely hold and shelter. Jonathan was too large to do such things with, and so the Basilisk had followed close behind Kel.

Everything was fine up until the other end of the gate opened. The energy released from the act affected the Basilisk in an unforeseen way. Kel was within touching distance of the other end of the gate when he looked behind to see Jonathan quickly losing consciousness.

Kel whipped around and desperately flapped his wings, trying to escape the pull from the other side of the gate. Jonathan wasn't close enough for the gate to pull him.

"Jon," Kel cried, "Jon, wake up!!"

He felt the pull of the gate lessen as he slowly started to pull away from it. A small feeling of relief spread through his chest as he stretched his claws out, barely grazing Jonathan's muzzle. The relief was soon replaced with despair as he felt a familiar grip around his ankle.

"Kel, what are you doing?!" Vegrail growled, "Don't dawdle between planes, you retard!"

"Father!" Kel gasped, "Let go! Ive got to get him!"

"Get who?" Vegrail looked at Kel with confusion. It was soon replaced with surprise as he spotted Jonathan. "You idiot!" He roared, "You know better than to do this!"

"Let go!" Kel struggled to release himself from the iron grip around his foot. "Let go! I almost had him!" He flashed quickly between his own and Loexvi's patterning as his brother started to panic also.

"No! This gate's been open far to long already, I WILL NOT let you trap yourself between planes." Vegrail redoubled his effort to pull his son back towards the gate.

Kel grew increasingly incoherent as his desperation grew. He fought harder and harder to reach the pale figure slowly drifting farther from his clawtips. He repeatedly called to the Basilisk, begging him to wake up. Jonathan's eyes fluttered open. Sapphire eyes met amber and yellow ones for a few seconds, an apology in the blue orbs. Jonathan lost his last hold on consciousness as Kel thrashed to reach him.

"JONATHAN!"

Hear that? :"D Its the sound of my heart breaking hahahahahahahaaha.
Jon doesn't actually die, Vegrail pulls Kel through the gate and in an uncharacteristic bout of selflessness towards someone not in the Bloodborn faction goes back through and retrieves Jonathan. Unfortunately Jon was in a comatose state for a LONG while afterwards :"D
