Description
Finally another birthstone. This was a very difficult piece to finish, because I used very sensitive tones. And I was freaked out that I'd ruin it! I used another very short range of colors, too.I was trying hard to evoke both the stone, the impression of ice, and a little bit of a statue.

This is so soft and beautiful!
I love it so much!!! The skin shading is so subtle yet it is sooo gorgeous! The eyes really draw me in, too. I could stare at this quite a long time and still love it ^_^

I really like the blues in this piece. I keep getting drawn back to her jawline... such a subtle shadow, but it's lovely.

The colors are so pretty, I love the fact that you used so few tones. The blue lineart really stands out here, which is really good since it's so delicate and carefully drawn. I can tell you spent ages on this, and it was time well spent.
Also, how on earth did you have the patience to complete such a difficult background? All the patterns looks exactly symmetric!

The lineart for the background is carefully traced on a light table. It takes a long time but it is like meditating. Not everyone likes to do it because it is tedious, but I love it, it is very relaxing.

Thank you! That was the hard part. I had everything done but her skin. I didn't want to touch it, and every time I started shading it, I was afraid I was going to ruin it and lifted the paint over and over again. Two weeks later, I finally sat down today, determined to finish it. I had two spotlights, an overhead, and an open window and it was HARD to see the lightness I wanted to paint. I was sweating, I swear!!!
Anyway, I'm pleased with the result, and I'm very very appreciative that you noticed the skin shading.
