its conflicts with avedesk in win7, try closing avedesk and then run xwd, worked for me

ahan I will see, I heard it happens in win7 when you change wallpaper, and I did change wallpaper, so I am gonna restart my lappy and see, else I will try your method.

np, restarting didn't work, your trick did, it's actually because of avedesk, and 1 more problem I am getting, my some icons are getting weird, I mean the they are there, but the icon changes to seperator and when i drag it, it starts resizing the dock :S weird

separator in xwd is different to rd or od, it does actually resize the icons, so instead of dragging the separator, try to move the icons so tht the separator moves to where you want it
