Description This is in honor of author Brian Jacques, who died over the weekend.

What can I say? The man's books were my childhood, and has inspired me to spin yarns of my own. He's influenced the kinds of characters and stories I like to work with, all the way up to the comic project I'm working on now!

Thanks for everything, sir.

There's something about the tapestry its self that makes me wonder what is meant to be going on are the creatures running away from Martin? But I really do like the overall finish of this piece the shadows the light from the flames it's just perfectly balanced

I love your tapisty and that Mathias seams to be at the point himself of asking Martin for help to defeat Cluny because he doesn't think he can. (drat spelling)

Lovely tribute to an astounding man and the world he created whose characters I cherished. Thank you so much, this is a beautiful picture depicting the start of it all

Agreed.  I have all of his books.  I'm quite saddened by the loss of him.  He was my favourite author.

Redwall was my childhood too. Some people complain about how the vermin are always evil or about how black and white the morality is, and I can understand their complaints. But, considering that Mr. Jacques wanted to write beautiful stories (especially for children) about good triumphing over evil, I think it made sense for him to make the differences between good and evil clear and symbolized by species. This really is a great tribute to him (and one of the best depictions of the tapestry I've ever seen).

Sean Rubin wrote a nice piece about that recently! You can find it here , and it's about how the series is more a beast fable than a depiction of racial relations in a fuzzier world.

And thank you! c:

You're welcome Rubin puts it very eloquently and he touches on something I've noticed in all animal stories: they're only interesting if they're about people (even Watership Down is really about people!). I guess that's part of the reason why when I read Warriors while I was waiting for the next Redwall book it never impacted me as much as Redwall.

Redwall is one of my all time favorite stories. Brian Jacques had a great talent with words.

Its sad that a great author had to die but I did hear he had brother...NOT sure. Perhaps he would start writing the books. It wouldn't be the same though...

I feel ashamed that one of my top favorite authors has died without me knowing

Jacques inspired me too with writing and dreaming of different worlds. He was classic and I never got tired of his stories. Your picture is lovely by the way

.... So this is what it's like when one of your favorite authors passes beyond the veil. I grew up on those books as well and I was just currently rereading them. A great joy. However, I did not realize the Brian Jacques had passed away. Not until just now.

Thank you Brian Jacques. And thank you for making this.

Noooo! And I'm not being sarcastic with the theatrics. His books were one of my first reading obsessions and some of the first things I ever drew fanart of. He will be missed, burr aye. This is the perfect tribute to a great author. I salute you.

Lovely picture as well. <3

Great tribute picture. I was so surprised to hear that he passed away. His books were the ones that jump started my love of reading. At least there's one more book of his being released in May- The Rogue Crew. It's so sad to think that the series will never continue past that book.
