My contribution to My Doll, a group show taking place at the Toast Gallery in Paris.
It gathers the works of 39 international artists, and the subject is "the puppet-woman".
I had tons of fun with this one, and drove myself silly with the details. I hope you'll like it !

Not sure about the others, but I'm French and the ThéÒtre du Guignol is a traditional French puppet show from Lyon, the city I had just left at the time I drew this.

She looks rather frustrated, I must say.
Out of curiosity, how do you manage creating texture in these pieces? That is one thing I have tried many times to convey (for example, rough wood or smooth metal) but cannot quite pin down. Is it simply an attention to detail?

Yes unfortunately, doing all those textures is mostly attention to detail and is very time-consuming. It's not exactly difficult to do... with a little bit of practice you'll get the hang of it, but it takes looking at many reference pictures first and then try to reproduce the texture detail by detail.
