The original is in a completely different style from what you do now, so I can't really compare it (at least the characters) directly with the other two. I will say that due to its different style, it certainly has a quality unique to it that makes it worthy as its own piece, and I think it's because it's more real-feeling. Overall, I love how the characters are drawn, aside from maybe Firestar's overly thick foreleg that gets much slimmer as it reaches the paw, and his left ear not quite making sense. The background is... not the greatest, though, especially the background trees (their shadows could definitely do with a rework).
The first redraw is more your current style of art, so I can compare more directly between it and this. It is very nice and cute, but as you said, they look quite young. The shading is pretty nice, but the lighting makes parts of their body look like plastic. There's also light on the bottom of Firestar's knee for some reason. On the topic of their legs, upon closer inspection they kinda look like they have big, odd lumps coming out of them, probably because their back feet are too short. Their cheeks are a bit too big, and something about the one open eye really doesn't fit the style. The forelegs look better than other pieces of yours at the time, where their legs look very stiff and straight. The background has gotten much better, if only for the fact that there are no terrible shadows and the trees actually stand out from one another. Overall pretty great, but upon scrutiny you can kinda tell you were adjusting to and developing the style.
This new "redraw" (more like a reimagining, since the scene is quite different) looks stunning! The inner forest setting looks great, the tree trunks look nicely detailed, and the leaves are simple but well done. The far back trees, the ones that look like sticks in comparison due to distance, should probably be a bit straighter and darker to match the pattern of the other trees, but that's pretty minor, and otherwise I have no qualms with the background. The foreground is well done as well, with plenty of grass, all well drawn, and pretty sun rays coming through the treetops. The characters are also a massive improvement. The mouth shape is much better, the back legs look very nice, and the fur colors are much more pleasing and natural. The eyes blend in perfectly with the style of the rest of the piece, and the attention to detail on the ears, such as Firestar's facing back, adds so much to it. The body shape is great, the shoulders look so nice now that they're defined, and the way their tails overlap and wrap around each other a little is so nicely executed. Oh, and the lighting is just amazingly done! It's very subtle and is consistent throughout, with parts exposed to the sun being noticeably brighter and parts facing away or covered up being darker, both to a great degree.
Comparing from first to second redraw, I can definitely say that your art has improved tremendously!

Phew! That was long
I didn't like the poses in the last one, they were to far apart and static so I kinda had to change that. Also their fur colours, too bright. And the background, Firestar and Sandstorm live in Thunderclan, which is in the forest. Didn't really make sense to have them in a field with ONE random tree, so I changed that as well. I wouldn't want to waste hours making a piece and it being mediocre because of the pose and setting.
I really need to think more about my backgrounds, usually I just have an Idea for a character and make a scene after.
The only pic I drew of the background before drawing the character was the Echo pic. I drew the whole background when I had a sketch of the character, and I drew the character after, (based around how the background was)
In general I need to spend more time on pictures

They describe them as "light ginger" and "dark ginger" so I went for more of a brownish tone for sandstorm and a slight red-y brown for firestar.
I think they look more "grown-up" in this one. The last one they looked like kittens...
Also please know that I am not afraid of criticism and will take any to heart! <3
Thank you,
Julia

Thank you!
I really should, I never have before and I know it will help me if I looked up references. The only picture I have is with the one with my two characters, Ferngaze and Oakfeather.
I kinda noticed the paw too, but at that point it would have been a nightmare to fix.
Imagine how many Redraws I will make of this in 5 years. it would be like "Redrawn redraw of a redrawn redraw I redrew (Redraw)" heh
