Description Lineart commission for ^__^

His two characters Cassandra O'Pier (somewhat unhinged) and John O'Rion (somewhat wary) facing off... or.. backing off... or something..

Anyway, quite fun to draw. You may have heard that I like uniforms somewhat.

Anyhah, hope this is all cool ^__^ I uploaded it as a bit of a bigger size than it originally was (slightly) so it can be resized as you wish ^^

More fuzzies!

...I'll admit, I'll never understand the whole "spikes on armor" thing. Or flanges, or whatever those things are... I mean, the best armor is angled and rounded to help deflect blows and refuse the enemy a grip in close combat. Spikes just defeat that purpose, and really their only reason for being is to make the wearer "look tough". But this is a cheap trick, used by barbarians and only intimidates themselves and their peers; true warriors see it and know that they have spied an amateur.

...Annnyway, love the frocks on her coat. (Is it called that? The things on her shoulders?) Almost as impractical as spikes, but at least have the decency to not be put on something as useful as armor.Β

Hey, I agree what you mean with the spikes being a bit unnecessary.

The truth is I included the spikes, which kitfox sort of exaggerated in this piece cos in this micgrol.deviantart.com/art/Gra… they're slightly smaller. The reason I used them was to make this silouette standout from his enemies who wear similar armour. Plus my comic was going to be in black and white for cost saving measures and people would have trouble pointing out the hero.

Also Cassy would wear some sort of armour if she were in combat ,it was just something I requested for this commission.

well uniforms have nothing to do with armour, it's more of a status and rank thing CX Blind your enemies with luxury!

Β

But yeah, spikes, as with most things, such as furries and bipedal mecha and etc.....don't need to make sense, just need to look cool. That is all.

oh god the one on the left is giving me the crazy eyes! run, run away!

anyway nicely done kit c:

(also on the one on the right with the assault rifle, IS that a knife that slides into the trigger grip at the base of his right hand?! or is just a long grip? if so that is bad ass! cool characters micgrol)

If it's the bit I think you mean, no that's just the ribbed part of the thigh armour ^^

kjo1993 In reply to kitfox-crimson [2013-08-11 23:36:29 +0000 UTC]

ooooohhh thats the armor... i thought that was the hilt of a blade sticking out from the grip. so like he ran out of ammo and some body was coming at him he could just draw the knife from the grip instead of reaching to get one from his waist (or where ever you keep a knife in battle armoe...)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kitfox-crimson In reply to kjo1993 [2013-08-11 23:37:18 +0000 UTC]

that would be a pretty awesome idea XD It's not like the grip is used to hold ammo or anything

hey kit could you help me with something?

im trying to draw dust clouds (like after a big attack or bomb hits and then the smoke starts to clear)

in this case the onix just smashed the ground in front of it and the dust is rolling over the battle field sta.sh/0bjgog2dhe6

im having a hard time finding any useful pictures or tips on drawing it, and i know in your comics lots of thing explode or slam into the ground, so im wondering if you have any templates/references or tips to drawing explosions or smoke/dust clouds?

i just sketched the onix hitting the ground, and i want the ground to crack and break to show it had alot of force behind it (also would this impact cause dust clouds during the hit or do they only form after?) do you have any critiques on how its sketched out? sta.sh/019hyh21bgdp

kitfox-crimson In reply to kjo1993 [2013-08-12 01:47:12 +0000 UTC]

I sort of use dust clouds only to make things easier to draw, as they block out a lot of the picture CX If something was slamming into the ground, like how you have it there, I wouldn't put any dust on it. If you did, the places where the dust is coming out would cover up the whole onix. I'd probably add some dust later on, and I just draw it like a bunch of sort of connected bubbles, sitting flat on the ground ^^

I agree. That certainly is a good idea.

I might consider that option when I get around to doing a slight redesign to the characters.

MikeOrion In reply to kitfox-crimson [2013-08-11 23:27:29 +0000 UTC]

My main influences on her were your character Natasha (isn't it a bit obvious?),Asuka from Evangelion and Louise Harlvey from Gundam 00.

So as you can see, Its quite a dangerous combination.XD

I just hope I didn't make her too 1 dimensional ,personality wise.

kitfox-crimson In reply to MikeOrion [2013-08-11 23:32:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I can see the first two quite easily as influences CX I haven't seen Gundam 00 though. It just didn't interest me at all Cx

Β

But yes, a very dangerous combination CX
