I was watching the Muppet Movie not long ago when the nostalgia bug bit me, and I was very moved by Gonzo's song (of all things) called, "I'm Going to Go Back There Someday" and this picture came out.The mood of it was just right for me to depict how Celeste feels when she learns of her origins through an up close and personal encounter with the master emerald. Of course, this is before she is actually absorbed and realizes going back to the Source means never seeing her loved ones again.

The town is just shriveling up now- which is a shame because it was a special place. It had so much history and charm- I'm really sad to see what's become of it....

I really feel bad for the situation there. Back in the early 1980's, not too far from where I grew up, there was a small community named Times Beach, in eastern Missouri. As it was only about five or six miles from my home, I used to ride my bike around in the area. They blacktopped the road sometime in 1981, and soon afterwards, people started getting in the area, with breathing difficulties, vomiting, severe diarrhea, and some even came down with nervous disorders. The mother of one of my closest friends ended up suffering a complete circulatory breakdown, and would end up dying from it in mid-1984.
The feds came in and thoroughly examined the area and found that the blacktop contained near lethal amounts of the chemical dioxin in it. Don't know if you've ever heard of it, if not, go on Google, and it can give you a way better description of it than I could. They ordered the community evacuated, and the company that laid down the blacktop had to pay for everyone to be moved out into different communities around the area. And there were ast least 26 lawsuits that came out of it. Today, it sits abandoned, and it's just so sad. I know this ain't exactly the same thing, but it's a bit similar in a few aspects.
