"and an intervention..."So yea, I'm throwing around ideas as to what Leah and Theo's dad would look like.
The hardest part about this is the fact that he's still an elf, so he should look nice and clean and "young-ish", but I want to show how the years have NOT been kind to him...
IDK, If anybody has a suggestion or any constructive criticism, that would be great!

i really like that first drawing! i had a bunch of random ideas so im just gonna throw them here if you dont mind ahah
i think dnd elves are pretty much hairless, i love the beard though so keeping it or not is up to how much creative license youre confortable taking (maybe elves' beards do grow but its so slow most elves shave the one time its starting to be visible? and so maybe he let it grow and its not a darven beard but the 5 o clock shadow is there and especially noticeable as hes an elf)
id say giving him long-ish, unkept hair (maybe badly cut?) if he doesnt take care well of himself. dry/splitting hair could work even if he does, and stuff that indicates a lowering quality of his body if that makes sense?
scars could also be a possibility, depends on his backstory & if itd make sense for him to have scars.
some wrinkles in moderation could also be a thing? i dont know everything about elf lore but i think they dont really age once theyre adults (or age really really slowly) so signs of ageing could be out of place but if he has been through a lot of stress, he could have greying hair & wrinkles still. elves are also a fantasy race so i guess you could do whatever you want! maybe his skin is turning kinda green in some places because hes been surrounded by nature for so long (if thats what his backstory is like). maybe moss instead of a beard? (again, if he has a connection w nature and you want to show him as unkept)
maybe his bones are kinda a mess because of how long hes been alive? or his knees are kinda weird? he may have back pains?
outside of physical signs,you could inform the passage of time through his clothes.
depending on his personality, you could also make sure hes read as significantly older through how he carries himself. unless he has confidence/anxiety issues, making him look like he knows why hes there & sure of himself tends to make character look more mature. maybe he has seen some shit? hes unfazed by most situations then, and maybe hes always slightly bored.
you obviously dont have to try any of those! i hope some of my suggestions helped still!

I love all those suggestions, but idk if any of them fit him, personality wise ....
Well, he is literally a self hating alcoholic, maybe recovering... He murdered his wife, and tried to with his children, but it kinda wasn't his fault, and he's a bit of a drifter. H'e not too old for an elf... he's probably about 200 years old, I havne't quite thought that through.
I just feel like , you know how someone can be 30, but look 50 because of how shitty there life was, or how badly they treated there body? That's kinda what I'm trying to go for... He's also very stubborn and a bit of a hot head. I'm still trying to define who he was, and who he is now!

ooh it may come across as weird but i really like that! i mean, from a moral standpoint killing your life isnt good, but building a character who did is super fun, at least for me lol.

maybe find specifics on how what he made his body go through wouldve visually impacted it?
