Description The Mighty Monkey Sage Equal of Heaven, main protagonist of Chinese epic "Journey to the West" This guy is one of the most badass mythical characters I can think of. He's like a mix of Loki and Hercules!

Here he is wearing tiger skin and is armed with his iron Wishing Staff (that could extend or shrink based on his wishes)

He is also using his trademark ability to transform his hair into various objects. Most frequently he transforms them into clones of himself (probably inspiring Naruto xP )

The Wishing Staff figured in the animated series where it grew to battering ram size and smashed out walls of a castle, The hero grew so headstrong & sure of himself that it took Buddha himself to break him and imprison him under a heavy mountain ! Buddha's unlimited power was well portrayed !

I guess this only happened bacause the author was favoring Buddhism himself

Thor once fought the personification of old age and death. I'm sure he can handle this guy. Specially if it's Scandinavian epic version of thor.

As much as I like Thor I doubt he'd win. He dies from a snake venom after all. Sun also fought against death, he kicked his ass, broke into his office and registered himself and his monkey subjects as immortals. Or rather he himself already technically achieved immortality, but underworld gods didn't register that fact and send Death after him anyway which pissed him of so much he did what he did.

Well, said snake was destined to kill him, so he did have fate itself against him. He's smarter then most people think, too!

It can spawn minions from its hair ? That's pretty cool especially if it can get a haircut !

Didn't he single handedly beat down all of Heaven's Army until the Buddha came to stop him? Freaking Boss he was. Just a badass made flesh, not even his facets and beings who were inspired by him are as cool as he was, the very original.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KingsOfEvilArt In reply to TheNightmareCooper [2017-04-19 20:21:50 +0000 UTC]

He did! It made the second half of the story kind of boring, I mean after he kicked asses of all the major gods what difficulty would he have with some minor demons and obstacles in their way xP

TheNightmareCooper In reply to KingsOfEvilArt [2017-04-21 04:31:30 +0000 UTC]

It is epic and yeah I do agree, it feels like a scenario where the best and most exciting parts happen in the beginning before the end but of course it is a story about humility, and granted a really good one. He does learn to become stronger through enlightenment and character and even becoming A/The God of Victory which is always cool.
But yeah, still hard to beat the start where Wukong flies to the edge of Literal Everything and pees on Buddha's hand only to be hurled to a Magic Mountain XD

The scene where they defiled a temple was cool too. (did the author sincerely hate Taoists? XD)

TheNightmareCooper In reply to KingsOfEvilArt [2017-04-21 14:48:19 +0000 UTC]

I think the author generally found Buddhism to be the BEST way to live your life given how Buddha was written as the BE-ALL/END-ALL of Deities. From what I've read (As a Chinese dude myself) and heard, the Jade Emperor was a representative of Confucianism and Lao Tzu of Taoism. Neither one of those guys were depicted as being effective against SuKong, not even close until Buddha came. In fact, many of those individuals did not clash well with our favorite monkey, it was only until Buddha trapped him under a Mountain and had him take a quest in helping him gain some humility did Sukong learn to be a better person.

So basically in Journey to the West The Buddha is #1.

Yeah, I noticed that but then there is the scene where ruin Taoist temple and troll the priests into drinking their piss. XD This seemed like something more personal against this religion.

One of the coolest mythic characters ever. And he's a monkey! Sun Wukong is cool in every possible way. A badass, a trickster, a funny primate, weird as hell powers, he's basically the perfect hero/antihero.

I especially love how you emphasize the monkey traits more than most. Imagining a monkey accomplishing such awesome feats in weird ways is both awesome and hilarious. And his clone looks very much like something you'd design. XP

Yeah, most of his depictions I've seen feature him with human-like posture just with monkey face. that's not something I wanted to go for.)

On miałtaki arsenał mocy jakiego nie powstydziłaby się żadna postać z gry. Choć tak na prawdę wystarczy kod na god mode i chęć trolowania przeciwników i już można się poczuć prawie jak Wielki Małpi Król.
