Did he die in his RΓastrad/warp spasm form here? It looks like his spiked hair/swollen muscles are laxing.
i like how you had his hair fade to black here, like the fiery triple-colors of his hair have been extinguished.

Whoaaaaa. Cool depiction of Cuchulainn. I'm always imagining him as a skinny youth but this shows his power and stance. What a cool detail where his blade is tied to his arm, it just goes to show how desperate he is to succeed.
So freaking cool.

He's sister Morrigu's now... I absolutely adore this work. Everything from the warp spasm dying down to the wolfhound keeping vigil over Cu chullain exhausted body. The green Gaelic tattooing against the pale skin and world works amazingly too.

You captured the moment beautifully! I loved this scene when I first read abt Cu Chulainn. I like Morrigan in this scene as well. I love the details of his tattoos, the blood, the injuries, the way his weapon is tied to him....*rants on*
Conclusion: Awesome work! instafav!!

This is an incredible piece. I love the story behind it. I have pictures like that in my head but I am new to the painting process and it does not go well.

I really do. I am a beginning painter. I recently got a tablet and have been so addicted to it and I have been experimenting so I can get my own style. I hope one day to be at least somewhat as good as you.

wow, just been searching for artworks depicting tales of celtic mythology, and yours is one of the most impressive. i don't know anything about digital art so i can't give any comment regarding the technique, but the image composition is wonderful, great symbolism!

I love the tattoos, but it's the only thing here that feels 'right'.
Firstly, his hair. it's supposed to be brown at the roots(his natural color, likely), blonde the rest(as per typical celtic fighting season fashion), and red at the tips.
Also, he lashed himself to a boulder in most versions of the story, rather than a tree.
Further, he didn't carry a sword, he carried his spear, the Gae Bulg into that battle. Swords were still fairly expensive at this point in history, and only the noblest of nobles carried them commonly.
Also, like any other Ulsterman of the time, he wouldn't have been massive and muscular, like the Gauls, but of average build and wiry frame, and would have been adorned with jewelery(no self respecting celtic warrior goes into battle without an earring or three, and if they can afford it, a Torc).
If you're going to do a historical peice, pay careful attention to your research. Other than that, this is absolutely fantastic, and visually stunning! good job!

I know it's far too late for my comment to matter... but inspirational... his pose. The sorrow in his outstretched hand, the dog's vigilant stand... inspirational.

Oh, man! This is [EPIC]!
I love mythology, but I've only read one or two Celtic legends. Does this one have a title? I'm interested. I think I'll add you to my watch list.
