OK! This is my 1st oil painting, just completed last sunday. Finally managed to get my hands on a digi cam to shoot this. Thanks to Dezzo who has been tutoring me for this work. Tried to get the same feel and mood for the pencil sketch of Handsome Monkey, but I think for a 1st piece its decent enough. Comments and Critisim are Welcomed!!Related content

i will be serious for a minute though, what kind of things do you need to do when you paint with oils? i mean, with colored pencils youre working light to dark and in compliments, what kind of techniques do you recommend/need for laying oils?

Well , I was taught to work from thick darks as a base and layers of mid and lighter tones are painted in one at a time. So its like you paint in the highlights as you work and usually you end up using lesser strokes as you build your way up. I green in oils too, so I hope this info helps.

sorry, I meant that I'm new to oils. Just started out doing oils a month ago. I hope the imformation's been useful, I'll be doing more oils so I'll update you again regading the kinda techniques and tricks I pick up. Cheers!

Thanks for the comment, I'll be doing more oils on this ape theme. Actualoly I had the Indian Monkey God Hanuman on my mind when I was painting his fur. Tha white fur really left a deep impression. Cheers!
