man it's still sad that you quit toon boom, for me you were the one that helped me out and get into toon boom when i first started out. Do you still do any animations?

Yeah I still do! Toonboom was cool, but I have a strong hate relationship with vector based programs, haha. Nowadays I do my animations in Clip Studio, now that it has a built in animation feature. So I can animate exactly how I illustrate!

yeah i use clip studio as well, but i haven't gotten the hang of animating in the program, it seems a little more complicated to me,not sure why but i get a little bit lost in the layers since layers are used instead of frames it seems

Yeah, I can see it being more complicated for sure! For me Toonboom was always way more complicated though and I was allways exporting my work from clip-studio to toonboom. So now I can skip that entire process!

ahh, but how will you do thing like camera movements and stuff, in toonboom it just feels so natural xD, man we can learn a lot from each other, i feel like i could show you some things in toon boom, and you could show me some things in clip studio

So what I've been doing is for complicated shots with camera work, I'll just use video editing software like Adobe After Effects. Haha, and after using ToonBoom for 4+ years in school and 2 years out of school, I've just come to the conclusion that it's not for me! It's a really good program, but it's entire workflow doesn't blend well with my own process, so everything takes longer than it needs to!
Such is the life with animation and art though! haha

hey, i been thinking about getting tv paint myself, i was looking at trying to get it off of their site but it seems you can only order a physical copy of it? i was hoping to be able to pay for it and have them give me a digital copy like how most other softwares work. (i hope im wrong) because i dont wanna pay for shipping xD, did you have to get the physical copy?

I was actually gifted my copy a couple years ago, so I'm not exactly sure how you can get it digitally. Unless you aim for less 'legal' means.

nope, i just bought a new gaming laptop with some great specs, im trying to keep it as clean and virus free as possible, so trying to use all legal means for software. That being said im disappointed they dont have a way to get a digital copy like how toonboom does when you purchase it, really was hoping to join the tvpaint family

I think it's a really great program but definitely not necessary to do anything significant in animation these days. A lot of drawing software like Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint, have pretty great animation features in them now. Although I haven't animated anything "big" in awhile, I;d honestly probably not open up TVPaint as my first choice, just because Clip Studio is my main drawing software. It's just 20000x easier to animate with a program you already know front to back, haha.

Has there been some recent announcements? I was using it to do pixel animation for a good 5 monthes for a project I was working on and it was great! So wonder what they could of added? Cause if animation got more streamlined it would be perfect!

brooo, they added camera movement just like in toon boom, they also added in audio feature so you can add sounds to your animation, theres also a colorize feature that auto colors your art work, its not super accurate but its decent for helping get a general idea, update to clip studio 1.84 and you'll get everything, it's super promising, my only regret is not switching over to clip studio sooner. wish i'd taken your advice from before, its so much easier to do certain things that would be so hard in toon boom

oh man i'll have to show you when im finished haha, i been doing a lot with it so far, its so versatile! at first it was intimidating for me to get in to because i never could understand animation in photoshop, and i had basically started with toonboom (everything in toonboom is so unnecessarily complicated) but now im loving it man!
