James Gordon was a cop for many years in Chicago, where he eventually got himself into trouble taking down a couple of corrupt fellow officers. Due to the potential fallout, it was suggested strongly that he take a detective position in Gotham City. It did not take long after his arrival in Gotham City to realize that it was even more corrupt, and his seemingly only ally against the corruption was a suspicious new vigilante called Batman. Through his alliance with Batman, Gordon reduced Gotham City's corruption and eventually rose to the rank of police commissioner...
