His family is very poor. He is in so much poverty that he's been wearing the hand-me-downs of his older sibling who graduated the school 3 years before him. He has a complex about his economical situation and doesn't like his own frumpy looks. He spent his first two years at the school with the cooking and baking clubs so he could make off with the food that he and the other students made to bring home. Other than club activities, he seems to have spent a lot of time skipping classes and sleeping under trees.
