Description
Janus started his life as many young Ralts did. Born to a pair of Gardevoir parents in the village hidden on Route 102 by the combined strength of the Four Masters of the village. While growing up, Janus often felt something of a Calling to leave the safety of the village, and though he told this to very few others, he did choose to tell his closest friend Iapetus, the son of a Gardevoir and a Gallade, with his father being one of the Master of the South. It was no secret that Iapetus wished greatly to leave the village, himself, for he had often told that to all who would listen to him, his father, most of all.
Neither of the two young Ralts had felt it to be the right time to leave, though, until one day in Janus' 10th Summer, which was Iapetus' 11th. Knowing that it was time to bid farewell to the village, they both made sure they were prepared to leave the village and join the Human Lands with the help of their parents.
Now it was well known that Janus had chosen, long ago, that when the time came, he would choose to be a Gardevoir as his parents before him had, but Iapetus had the desire to follow in his father's footsteps and become a physical as well as mental protector, and thus asked his father if it would be possible for him to carry with him one of the Blessed Stones of Aurora so as to gain her Blessing in becoming a Psychic Knight. Iapetus' father, of course, had known the day would come for such a request and had already chosen a Blessed Stone and created a Necklace out of it for Iapetus to wear as a momento to the village he was leaving behind. And so it was, that both young Ralts would set out upon their journey to the Human Lands the next dawn, well rested and given the proper sending off from the entire village.
In the Human city of Petalburg, there was a young child, Sasha, the son of two Merchants, who had known, from a rather young age, that he would never wish to be a Pokémon trainer, as his childhood friends would. He found the very idea of capturing sentient creatures, often against their will, for the sole purpose of sending them to battle with other sentient creatures captured by a completely different person. He knew, of course, that many times, the Pokémon were in fact happier with their trainers, and that most trainers were very loving and caring for their captured friends, but he had already chosen his path; he would be a Merchant like his parents, and had already entered an apprenticeship in his parents' shop.
One afternoon, having finished his shift at his parents', Sasha had decided that the day was too nice to spend indoors, and knowing that the rainy season was on its way, he felt that sitting outdoors to read in the comfort of the sunny meadow just off of Route 102 would be a luxury that would not be available again for many months. Choosing his favorite tale, The Arceus Chronicles, a study of Pokémon mythology, he let his father, who was currently at the counter, know where he was going, and having been given the go ahead, he headed out. Knowing that the meadow just off of Route 102 was still on said Route, he took a very weak Repel with him, in case of some of the more insistant bug Pokémon decided he was more interesting than anything else in the fields, as well as a Substitute Doll that, luckily, he had never had to use yet.
Finding a nice sunny spot in the meadow wasn't that hard, and so he was able to start reading rather quickly; in fact, none of the bug Pokémon found him interesting at all, which he was also rather happy about, since he didn't wish to cause any problems by having to scatter them. Not 5 minutes into reading about how Arceus had created all life in the world, Sasha was startled by a sudden bark and howl of a Mightyena followed quickly by the exclaimations of what sounded like at least two Ralts. Though not a trainer himself, he knew from his old friends that Mightyena had a very high advantage over a couple of Gardevoir, much less a couple of Ralts, and so, shoving his book into his shoulder-bag, he ran over to where he heard the commotion.
The sight that greeted him was a slightly injured Ralts laying on the ground holding it's arm, and a second Ralts, with a Dawn Stone necklace, holding a Reflection Barrier against the Mightyena. Sasha also noticed what caused the Mightyena's uncommon anger, it was a mother, and it had what looked to be five un-weened Poochyena pups. Seeing that the Mightyena would never back down from a perceived threat that the Ralts appeared to be, he grabbed out his Substitute Doll, and hoping that it would work, tossed it behind the Mightyena while running up to the pair of Ralts.
Not knowing if the Substitute Doll would distract the Mightyena long, Sasha asked if either one of the Ralts knew how to Teleport; the one holding the Reflection Barrier nodded shortly. Grabbing the injured Ralts carefully, and placing a hand on the standing one's shoulder, Sasha thought of the Petalburg City Pokécenter's doorway and told the Ralts to try and teleport there. One second Sasha saw the Mightyena beginning to turn around back towards them, and the next, the door to the Pokécenter was directly in front of him, and the standing Ralts began to waver. He quickly ushered it into the Pokécenter ahead of him and asked for a little help while still carrying the injured Ralts with him. The resident Chansey and a nurse on call came out at his calling, and took both Ralts into the healing center, while he waited out in the waiting room.
15 minutes later, the nurse came back out to tell him that the Ralts were doing well, and that she would take him to them if he wished; he shot out the chair at that, and followed her impatiently, to her amusement. Arriving in their room, Sasha was relieved to see that they were both awake and that the injury on the Ralts' arm wasn't as bad as it had looked when he had first seen it. As soon as the nurse had left, telling him that they would be staying there for the night for observation, Sasha sat down on the stool that stood next to the rather large bed that both Ralts were laying upon. The two Ralts gave a quick glance at each other, conversing without audible words, and in Sasha's mind came a voice that was pitched slightly lower than his own, which he knew, without knowing how, came from the Ralts with the Dawn Stone necklace; it said only four words, four words would change his life:
"You are the one."
