Description
A female Yellow garden spider(Argiope aurantia) feeding on a dogdane beetle.
The spiders are fairly common in our area, but due to them spinning their webs at greater heights, I hardly get to see them up close.I take great delight in finding these elegant weavers specially since they have such a skill when it comes to silk.On their webs is a zig- zag pattern called a stabilimentum of which is purpose is still uncertain.
These spiders take me back to a memory of my grandma's house.Stretched across the door to the front yard was a yellow garden spider's web.
