Very very messy doodles to showcase some headcanons abt Draconequui

This is gonna be a bit hefty so buckle up, babes.

So let's address the most obvious thing: the name.

"Draconequus": A compound word consisting of "Draco" and "Equus". "Draco" is the Latin word for "Dragon". "Equus" is Latin for "Horse", it's where the word "Equine" comes from.

This leads me to believe that these creatures are MEANT to consist of dragons and equines parts.

Of course, in the show, they're described as having "... the head of a pony, and a body made up of all sorts of things." (Cheerilee, Season 2 Episode 1 [00:45-00:48])

The only Draconequus we know of in canon (not counting the comics, as those were one-off and didn't influence the tv show) is Discord, everyone's FAVOURITE Draconequus !!

Here's my idea.

The original Draconequui was created by the Goddess Lumina. She created them in her image- The forelegs and tail of a dragon and the body, head and hind legs of a pony. She made them vary greatly in colour and power as her sister Rosetta had done with her "Allicorns".

Often these creatures, which Lumina had dubbed "Draconequus", had draconic horns and wings. Sometimes they were wingless, sometimes they had feathered wings like a bird.

Draconequui and Allicorns are very in-tune with Harmony magic, Alicorns more in-tune with Order than with Chaos, and vice versa.

The definition of a Draconequus only becomes skewed a millennium later, when the young prince of the Draconequui makes it so.

This event also sparks a war between Alicorns and Draconequui...

The young prince is named Discord. I won't go too into it, because it's too long, but here's the rundown:

- Discord is hatched normally. He's rather mismatched for a Draconequus already. His dragon claws are green, his tail is red, and his wings are feathered and bright blue. His body and legs are a fawn brown colour, and his head is grey instead of matching his body colour.

- Discords disorderly appearance is due to him being more in-tune with Chaos than any other Draconequus.

- Discord grows up thinking he's hot shit and that he's stronger than Lumina Herself, and believes he can completely control Chaos (something that not even Lumina could do.

- This obviously doesn't work out and Discords Hubris is his downfall. He attempts to control Chaos, and contain It. This only causes his body to warp. His parts switch about and change painfully. With a mind clouded with pain and Chaos, Discord rampaged and ravaged nearby cities under Allicorn control.

- He raged so hard that it seemed like an army destroyed the towns. Roads became soap and it rained fizzy wine. Creatures perished in floods of boiling hot fudge.

- This mega pissed off Queen Terra and King Aetherion(Celestia n Luna's parents)

- There was already tension between the two Nations (Rosea and Luma) and this was the straw that broke their backs.

- Terra and Aetherion send their army to wreck Luminian cities. Creatures there perish as well.

- Discords mum and dad, Queen Incandescence and King Cataclysm, reacted the same and sent their own army to Rosian cities.

- This petty back and forth went on for months. Where was Discord you ask?? In a Chaos coma somewhere within a cave in the Everfree, the forest that used to stretch all the way across the middle of the Equestrian Continent. The War reduced it to what it is today.

- Discord n Celestia are around teenaged while this is happening. Luna is a preteen.

- Tia takes Luna and a bunch of her friends (Harmonia, Genia, Honesta, Natura, Loyla and Joya) to go find their dumb friend Discord bc he's been gone for a while now and its scaring Harmonia (She may or may not have a MASSIVE crush on him shhh).

- The war goes on. Discord wakes up abt two years later. Queen Incandescence thinks the Allicorns stole her son and Queen Terra thinks the same of the Draconequui and her daughters(And their ladies-in-waiting) bc the girls don't know how the fuck to tell adults things.

- Yay, they found Discord oh no he's still hopped up on Chaos.

- Rampage two electric boogaloo.

- On the bright side, tho now the Draconequui and Allicorns know what the fuck started all this.

- On the dark side, nobody knows how to fix this shit.

- Harmonia has an idea but its not a Good One.

- Harmonia and her "sisters from different misters" have to sacrifice their life force to stop the war = (

- They venture out to the ravine by the Castle n go down. Harmonia n The Gals all do some magic and turn into a fucking Tree, my dudes.

- Through the tree, Harmonia and the girls bequeath the Elements, the very culmination of the girls' being, to Celestia and Luna. Each young mare entrusted with three.

- Shit goes down, The Allicorns and Draconequui trying to calm the Chaos Loaded prince.

- Oops Discord killed the Queen and King of the Allicorns

- Celestia n Luna don't know this yet. They actually haven't talked to their parents since before they left.

- Oops Discord killed the rest of the armies.

- Celestia n Luna are En Fucking Route, Discord, watch ur ass.

- Oops Discord killed his parents

- Oops Discord is finally snapped out of it and Oh God What Has He Done.

- Discord is now Clouded By Grief My Guys

- He's more powerful now, but he STILL can't control Chaos. Oh well, he can settle w fucking w poor little defenceless ponies. What has he got left to lose? His parents are gone and as far as he knows so are all his friends oh Wait there's Celly and Lulu hey whats those funny rocks they got there why do they look so angry.

- They chase Discord around the Equestrian continent for WEEKS before finally nailing him... Er... Stoning??? IDK man, he's a statue now!!

So that's that on that. The reason his kids have mismatched parts is because the Chaos altered his DNA and the way that Draconequus genes work. So now they're a myriad of parts. : ///
