Description This was a story idea I got one morning. I plan on using it in the future with my own characters, but for now, the protagonists are the chipmunks.

Just a kick look at the plot: Simon and Jeanette, as children, discovered an old abandonned library in the middle of a forest, don't ask why it was there, it just was. Simon immediately fell in love with the place. Years later, adults now, Simon decides to finally show the place to his brothers and the kids, as well as three other members of the group Claire, David and AJ are part of. Unbeknownst to Alvin and Theodore, Simon had been visiting the library at least once every year. The more he visited it, the more attached to it he grew. He knew every single section by heart, how the place worked, and where the bedroom of the old librarian was. He knew the place inside out.

This worried Alvin and Theodore, considering they felt something was amiss in the building and Simon wasn't able to tell. Usually, he was one of the first to feel something strange.

Simon eventually shows Alvin an incredibly thick book with the words "Guide to the Library" printed on the old dusty cover. He opens it, revealing empty pages. He shows to Alvin what it was for, and that he had learned every single thing there was to know about the library by asking the book. By saying the word MAP, a three-floor map appeared on the pages of the book, a map of the library. Simon knew the place inside-out. You could ask the book anything about the library, and it would give you the answer.

They spent the night at the library, and Alvin decided to do some snooping around with Theodore's pet, Mia, to find out what was making the place so earie. He asked the book and then the spirit of the librarian spoke up, stating that he did not want Simon to leave the library; he wanted his knowledge on the world outside, and Simon was his ticket out.

More may be explained in the future, if you want to know more.

This pic was drawn completely with special pencils. The biggest pain to do were the bookshelves, but it was all worth it. The little creature on Theo's shoulder is actually a creature that Spike gave him. He had found it as a baby but couldn't keep it, considering he had already too many creatures living in the Palace. So Theodore took it home with him and called him after the sound it made: Mia.

Okay, hope you like it.

Enjoy!

Thanks Yeah, I'm not all that great at drawing characters that were always meant to be kids and then turn them into adults. And I will always prefer them as the three kids they were always meant to be!

Absolutely outstanding Ash, just the way in which is was drawn all in pencil. The shading and lighting effects are nearly flawless. And Simon's glasses, the sheen that comes off of them is just excellently done. I'm borderline speechless Ash, this is just so well done.

And the story sounds just great to boot, very original, and definetly something I would sit down to read.

Thanks I got a special artist eraser that if you rub it just enough, it leaves glares or highlights. When I did Simon's glasses, I have to admit I was as giddy as a kid and immediately ran to show my dad. It was the first time I made it look that way.

And thank you again! I definitely plan on making more of this story.

I love this drawing. Especially the look on Alvins face. He really looks worried and scared.

Very well done especially that it was done in pencils!

The shading is amazing and I love the story line. I've always wanted to find an old library in a forest although at this point any old building in a forest will do!

I wanted it to be a secluded place since when they try to call for help, nothing works. A forest was as good a place as any! And thank you very much, Ari.

This is incredible! The picture is just gorgeous! I'd never be able to shade like that!
And also the story line is great too. Very adventurous and suspenseful. Makes me want to read it really badly.
Overall, amazing!

I went through so many hand cramps by the time I had completed it. Shading is not an easy thing to do, especially if you have no idea where the lighting is coming from. Anyone can do it, it just takes a WHOLE LOT of patience. I get easily annoyed at how long it takes me to complete things like this.
And thank you very much! I certainly tried my best.

Yeah. We spent the whole first half of the school year doing shading in art. In fact, we're still doing shading but now with paints. Gah, I don't like paints. >.<
But your patience and work definately paid off! No problem!

Thanks!^^

W-O-W. Considering that this was done entirely by shading with pencils, this is cooler than your atypical cool. This cover is simply amazing! Maybe you should keep the chipmunks as the main characters, I bet that would make an awesome read!
