Antlers make everything Awesome. 8D Thank you~~
Ahaha fur is fun to paint! I just paint in all the dark strands, then I paint the light strands over it. Then I airbrush over it so it doesn't look like a stringy mess. xD But mainly I just make sure it's very sharp--I do that with every medium. Hair looks good when it's sharp in at least a few places.

Welcome =3 How did you get used to doing art w/out lineart? practice and photo refs?

Khezix In reply to freespiritkrr [2011-04-09 17:41:26 +0000 UTC]
Well, when I first starting drawing digitally, I never used lineart. It wasn't until a few years later when I started using lineart for my cartoon style.
Traditionally, I grew up using lines until I was 11 or so, and I picked up Prismacolor colored pencils. Pencil lines would muddy my colored pencils and pen lines wouldn't even show up on colored cardstock, so I just dropped the linearts.
So, digitally... It wasn't really a matter of getting used to lineless, but getting used to lineart. But both digitally and traditionally, I use a lot of photo references. I will grab about 3 photos to reference for each piece - one for pose and form, two for values and color, or specific angle of something.
my answers are getting long-winded again o:

Make something beautiful? ;D You should give it a go sometime. :> You just need to keep your light source in mind the whole time, and build your form using value.
Oh! 8D I'm recording a digital painting that doesn't use a lineart, but I'm having a hard time finishing it. x__x I just can't find the time.

I very much like the structure this picture has! The one, to see in the draker areas as well as the lighter areas, letting it look like it was drawn on a real-life canvas~
I also may should try to draw more one layer pictures...

Thank you very much! I was going for the RL paint look. :3
One-layer paintings are so fun. I don't have to worry about that stupid lineart or cell shading!

Welcome!
... exept they also can become quite difficult when you donΒ΄t have the possibility to change some sort of small detail, while everything around it actually looks like itΒ΄s supposed to look ... but I think... then one just... goes to say. "anyway, IΒ΄m going to painting over that thing"... I think?

Yeah, if you miss a detail, it can be tough fixing it. x_x So it's really important to go from background to foreground.
