She had seen many things in her life, and when rescued from yet another desparate situation by a man who continually swore they were destined, she escaped the usual treatment. A sleepless night to 'prove her gratitude' was certain to follow. It didn't upset her, she knew what she was, and it was the way of things to be used for such things.
But when he asked her to sleep beside him their first night together, he promised no more than rest. Beside her rescuing knight, she slept peacefully, for once not toppled in exhaustion to be left with only nightmares of the only thing she was ever thought good for.
She dreamed of love, and he lay with his arms around her.
