Description APE 2012 commission that I finally am uploading here! Miss Maggie Cheung is an INSTITUTION. Learn it and learn it well. Had a lot of fun experimenting with this piece. Really happy with the way the background came out. Let me know what you guys think!

Well, where to begin? first off, as always, I love how you've rendered her face. You have this unique quality of capturing a person's likeness that is so wonderful; it's stylized yet recognizable. Maggie Cheung has never looked so gorgeous! Just her overall facial expression is wonderful; from her lowered eyelids to her pouty lips, you've really rendered it quite well (and in traditional media, no less).
The background is brillantly rendered as well. I love the nice halo you've created around Maggie's head and how the light just radiates throughout the rest of the composition.
If I could give one suggestion, maybe adding a bit more cool colours to the edges of the composition, suggesting the light receding into shadow and even balancing out the warmth of the piece. But that's not to say that I already love said warmth and how it plays with the composition.

Cheers!

This is a great piece! I love the dynamic that the background creates for the character and I love her expression. I also love the Blue China pattern in her dress. Very cool. I wish I could get my hair to look that good.

I would have liked more of the blues that are in her outfit or maybe another cool color to have as the dark contrast areas in the background instead of the purples and reds. I believe that it would have given the piece fresher look, different from the overall warm feeling it has now. All in all a great piece dude. Love it!

Love the actress, love this image. So much beautiful imagery comes out of Wong Kar Wai films.

it is one of my favourite movies of all time. And she is sublime and effortlessly stunning in every shot. I think some of that quality definitely came through in this piece. Although i feel it might be a bit too happy with the yellows and oranges. Perhaps just a hint of a streetlamp in the background or something. Her expression is perfect though.
