Okay, technically she's not a Vocaloid in and of herself, but her design is so bad-ass I had to draw her: Black Rock Shooter.She makes a fun contrast to the other cards. Their backdrops were all abstract light, shapes, and bright color filters, whereas B*RS here is all hard edges, rusted metal, and splatter brushes. Super fun to do.
Anywho, here's the rest of the series. This one will wrap it up for now, just in time for Otakon!

In photoshop, I used the freehand lasso selection tool to create the flame shape and filled it with blue. Then I set the layer blending mode to "multiply". I copy the layer on top and turn it's blending mode to "screen". I then enable an "outer glow" layer effect with the blending set to "normal" and the color to blue and adjust the size as needed.
It's actually a lot easier than it sounds if you know PS.

What does she do, exactly, since she isn't an actual Volcaloid? I didn't keep up with Volcaloid until recently (I seriously thought it was just a popular anime show) and the only characters I haven't seen before are her and Gumi (who I figure is another Vocaloid).

Black Rock Shooter is a song that tells a story, and she's the character in the story. She's based of Hatsune Miku, the Vocaloid used to sing the song.

the creator made Miku sing a song ABOUT her, but BRS is not in any way Based on or is Hatsune Miku, especaily since BRS was first.

Basically Vocaloid is a singing synthesizer application developed by the Yamaha Corporation that lets people synthesize singing by typing in lyrics and melody. So technically the Vocaloid characters are all programs, although they are sometimes depicted as being robots in videos. Miku Hatsune is the most well known one.
