Description an invisible cold kiss on my wet skin
i am damp and half naked and shivering
the air and its sister, the wind, freezing glittering droplets on my shoulder blades
i wrap myself in distracting thoughts as i run and then jump
enter with a splash and move without a sound
close my eyes and listen to music in my head
or pretend that i'm off somewhere sleeping
warm enveloping liquid like blankets weighing on my back
moving with my arms in front, spinning like windmill blades
that fly about aimlessly in a motion as second nature as walking
stroke kick glide, stroke kick glide
a pattern like beadwork and simple intricacies one takes for granted
like the four thousand muscles used to frown
reach the surface and breathe air sweeter than any sugar-laced coffee
only to plunge back again to the darkness and the wet
and the small bits of body fluid drained into the pulsating mass
from every human being entering it
a struggle and a shiver crescent moon small and fragile
moving water with silver powder gravity
