I wear a maskeveryday;
hiding beneath
painted beauty
and a "fuck you"
attitude.
Bright white teeth
that flash smiles
at passing strangers:
a six-foot-thick
façade,
when my insides
are six feet under,
and my soul is full of dirt.
Beneath long eyelashes
and red lips
lives nothing but
fake words
and hollow feelings.
Beneath inked skin,
a mind that aches
for the end,
the black nothingness
to end
a broken heart.
