I love the kind of misty feel of this. It looks more like a painting with the soft edges. Kind of ethereal and very nice composition.

I like this piece, and i think you've chosen great elements. This image is very misty and haunting. Here is a photography concept that may help you:
An image doesn't necessarily have to be just dark in light to be dark. Some of the most creepy images out there play with light and dark and contrast. I think the lighting is great, but you could play with the Levels in Photoshop and get some cool effects.
Your blending has created a very ghostlike quality, since the edges are softer. I would recommend playing with not only blending but with gradient masks so that, if you are indeed going for the ghost like look, you can play with what parts of the image are transparent.
I like this piece, and I think it has tons of potential. If you want any help with it, let me know, and I'd be more than happy to help out. I like sharing ideas.
