It's the lyrics from a song. It's by Joanna Newsome and it's called "Have one on me" ^__^ It's really good, and I don't think she meant to offend you.

hmmm, I guess maybe. but obv she chose the lyrics for this particular drawing, and idk. it's like reverse discrimination sometimes, so I'm against generalizing. do you know? but I'm not offended, I'm just championing anti-discrimination, not all Jesuits are "poisonous" believe me, they are the most open-minded group in the Catholic church. a lot of people feel safe discriminating against certain religions like catholicism, but they'd never dare discriminate against ones like Islam or judaism, and not because they don't want to but because they are afraid. there is just as much reason to discriminate against other religious groups as there is to Catholicism but you see it a lot less bc people just feel safer, like, shitting all over the church and her various orders. maybe if I saw another piece that had accompanying lyrics that said, "oh, those Shiites poisoning me against you" or something like that I'd understand that this artist is not discriminatory just descriptive, but if it's just against one religion or one order, then you have to think about the artist's agenda :/ it's all about seeing whether an artist is descriptive or manipulative, those are the two main filters

Okay, to be completely honest, I did not understand all of that... For instance your example with the Shiites, wouldn't that still be discriminatory against a certain religion or order? But anyway, I do agree with you that those lyrics were probably not the best to pick, especially since there are so many other lines in that song that don't point out any sort of person or religion or anything. And I can't have as much of a stand on this as you do, because I obviously do not know as much about Jesuits as you.... I actually hadn't even known they existed before this song, nor did I know who they were. And, though I cannot say for sure what this artist was thinking at the time that she chose these specific lyrics, I would guess that she probably just thought of that line and decided that they were good. I may be very wrong though, in which case that was not very nice of her and she should not be discriminating against any sort of religion...

haha you're right, it was a bit confusing what I was saying at some points, I realized, I'm sorry. basically, with that example I was saying that if you're going to make a point against religiosity then you should use various examples, not just one example because then you're just slandering. I am for making a point against religiosity, but am against the attack of one particular religion. I find it offensive that an individual would have a problem with just one aspect of a particular religion and not relate it to a more general point; like, if your problem is with religious radicalism, then make it a point to say just that. don't name just one religion (or one order, like the Jesuits) because then it is disrespectful, all religions tend to have the same goal: to make the world a better place. whether they do that or not is irrelevant to the fact that it is their purpose. there must remain, I believe, a sense of respect for that while still being critical of the negative aspects of religion. whether it's Christianity, Islam, Judaism, or Satanism, they all aim to give meaning to the human life, an artist should have respect for that basic right (to find meaning in life, isn't that the point of art as well?) hope that cleared things up, and didn't make it more confusing it's hard to get meaning across through only text
thx for responding btw

I know this thread is years old but I thought I would mention this in case anyone is reading.
The song Have One On Me is based on the life of Lola Montez, an Irish dancer who became the mistress of king Ludwig I of Bavaria. Although Ludwig himself was Catholic, he took council from Lola who was a Protestant. The Catholic church highly objected to Ludwig granting Lola the title of the Countess of Landsfeld, even attempting to make her a naturalized citizen, as well as her powerful influence over the king and his politics. At Lola's behest, Ludwig closed the University of Munich (formerly Landshut), which had been one of the Jesuit centres of the counter-reformation, in retaliation to student riots against Lola's liberal and anti-clerical influences. Eventually these riots would become part of the greater revolutions of 1848 and Ludwig was forced to abdicate and Lola fled the country. It is said that she believed that her misfortunes were caused by Jesuit plots against her. Many people had it out for her as she was notoriously ill-tempered, so it's likely that she believed it was due to some Jesuitical influence. She also began to carry a whip with her and some years after she fled Bavaria, there was an incident in which she attacked an editor with her whip for criticizing her performances.

"A bear there was,"
"A bear, A BEAR!
"All black and brown,"
"And covered with hair!
"Oh come they said,"
"Oh come to the fair!"
"The fair? said he,
"But I'm a bear!"
"All black and brown,"
"And covered in hair!"
"And down the road,"
"From here to there,"
"From here!To there!"
"Three boys, a goat,"
"And a dancing bear!"
"They danced and spun,"
"All the way to the fair!"
"Oh! sweet she was,"
"And pure and fair,"
"The maid with honey,"
"In her hair! Her hair,"
"The maid with honey,"
"in her hair!"
The bear smelled the scent,
"On the summer air!"
"The Bear! The Bear!"
"All black and brown,"
"And covered with hair!"
"He smelled the scent,"
"On the summer air,"
"He sniffed and roared,"
"And smelled it there!"
"Honey on the summer air!"
"Oh I'm a maid,"
"And I'm pure and fair,"
"I'll never dance,"
"With a hairy bear,"
"A bear! A bear!"
"I'll never dance,"
"With a hairy bear!"
"The bear,the bear!"
"Lifted her high,"
into the air!"
The bear, the bear!"
"I called for a knight!"
"But you're a bear!"
"A bear! A bear,"
"All black and brown,"
"And cover in hair!"
"She kicked and wailed,"
"The maid so fair,"
"But he licked the honey,"
"From her hair!"
"Her hair! Her hair!"
"He licked the honey,"
"From her hair!"
"Then she sighed and squealed,"
"And kicked the air,"
"She sang: My bear so fair,"
"And off they went,"
"The bear! The bear!"
"And the maiden fair!"
