I started this a month ago, at Cornerstone. Cornerstone music festival is the greatest, most fabulous event in the whole entire universe.

Anyway, I felt like drawing something generically fantasy. I wasn't really sure about the specifics - I was leaning towards having her holding a mirror, though now I can't remember why I thought that was a good idea.

I was trying to figure out what to do, when I popped in my Promise Book CD (reminiscing about C-Stone last year and how freaking awesome it was). The song "Magic in the Well" came on, and it became quite clear what to do with this picture.

For a couple of days it was a sorta kinda Promise Book fanart, and then I went and saw "The Dark Forest," which is this really cool fairy-tale opera sorta thing with awesome music. I bought that CD and started listening to it whenever I would draw instead of the Promise Book one, so a lot of that went into the picture too.

So altogether, it's just kind of a fantasy-Cornerstone-Dark Forest-Promise Book conglomeration.
