Description ...well, since I've never really lived up to being a leo, but I DO fit my ancient Egyptian horoscope pretty well - I was, incidentally, born in the month presided over by Anubis. How convenient.

This one I'm actually VERY happy with - except the fact it's gone all crimpled, and the fact it's scanned atrociously as it wouldn't fit on the scanner bed. Once I've properly mounted it, I'll re-scan it. I hadn't realised how badly papyrus cockles until I actually painted on it. GRR.

This one is going on the wall at the hospital where I work. I've managed to wrangle myself a display case, so now I'm just arranging what I want to put up. Yay!

Edit: as promised, re-scanned and re-uploaded. Even now it looks more wrinkled than it actually is... ohwell. It looks all right in real life, though, which is good, it won't look too bad on the wall at the hospital. Yay! There may be a second "Edit" once I've sorted out my site a little, since there's a page I'd ultimately like to point to in the description. Yay.

Didn't notice the crinkles until I read your comments. You really get the idea that the fox is pouncing on something.

Papyrus is the "paper" the ancient Egyptians used - made from cutting strips of papyrus reed and squashing them together into sheets, basically. It's hard to find and fairly expensive - about £2 a sheet where I got mine, in a stationers called (conveniently) "Papyrus" down one of the side streets in Bath, although you could probably get it online somewhere. And I have a whole new respect for the scribes, now I know how much it wrinkles when it gets wet! Painted it with acrylics.

Thanks for the comments.

Is this an entirely new one, or did you remove the crinkles with a painty program?

I stuck it to a bit of cardboard (I would say "I mounted it properly" but that sounds rude) and rescanned it.
