Here is something completely original for an idea I'm going to share later.
Here are 3 different magical Hourglasses.

The Far right is the Ice Glass. This Hourglass gives the user the ability to Freeze time at will. Everyone exept those who touches it cannot move. The Sands are frozen solid to both ends of the glass.

Center is the Sands of Life. Those who holds this treasured glass can recive an extended amount of time to live. Perfect for those who are about to die but need more time, either until they can get help, or if they want more time to say goodbye to a love one. Sand appears as a golden dust that falls very slowly and gracefully, spec by spec.

And last is the Sands of Death. Those who holds this cursed glass risk losing time to live. Anyone who might have a good life expectency may cause death to creep closer to their hour of death. The sands is a toxic clump that fall at a fast rate, sometimes without warning.
