Description I took this picture through the window of the gondola on our way back down the mountain. This one is looking toward the southeast. You can see the river meandering its way through the valley there. I think this might be my favourite of the Banff photos I took.

The following text is copied from the first photo in this series:

I took my fiance to Banff when he was visiting during spring break. There's a gondola there (not the boat, the cable car - see here: [link] ) to the top of Sulphur Mountain. There's a little trail there to the very summit where there used to be a cosmic ray research facility. This is one of the photos I took along the trail, looking down into the town of Banff.

It was very foggy and windy with blowing snow when we were there, so half the time we could barely see the other mountains. We were lucky to get any decent photos at all. (There were also snow drifts up to 4 feet tall along the trail, but that affected the hiking more than the photography.)

Most tourists take pictures from the top of Sulphur Mountain, so my photos are nothing special. But they are MY photos, and that makes them special to me.
