Description I took this during a study break last week while I was cramming for my test. I thought the placement and things was kinda cool, and I wondered how my cello would stand out with its reddish tone.

Here it is - I extracted the cello and did some minimal processing. But hope you all like it.

Made the viewing size larger AND made it print-available! shameless self-endorsement: "It makes a great gift for cello aficionados!"

I love this one! It really stands out, and has a good mood. Though it isn't the point of the piece, I love the way couches like that look in black and white!

Anyway, great contrast, and really interesting picture overall.

Hehe - one of these days, I'm gonna get a print this... and hang it over that couch. I'm glad you like it!

Cellos don't only make for the most beautiful sounds in the world, but also for some beautiful pictures! Lovely extraction. Good title. Only criticism I have for this picture is the placement of your signature, but that's totally your own right and I know nothing about photography, so don't take my comment too deeply

Hey, thanks!

The cello is a fabulous instrument. Can be very photogenic Hm. Never looked at the sig really critically before. I try to balance it w/ the rest of the image, but oh well.

Merry Christmas!

Woah!

Yeah! Another Cellist

It's always more fun w/ cellos aroun'

Unless... of course... you're emoting away w/ it. No better instrument to do it with. If you do it right, you can prolly get a grown man to cry on just one beautifully played note. See if a piano can do that!

:-D

Hahahaha!

Cellists unite 4 world domination!

Or something like that....

Thanks for your appraisal of my cello's color. One of the reasons I bought it. (don't worry, sound first, next looks).

wow. this is phenomenal. I love the simplicity of it. the blanket on the sofa and the rug's off-kilter-ness lend to the idea that the cello is the one stability in the life of the photographer. beautiful job.

Hyo!

Thanks a bunch. I took this while cramming for a big test. This was what pulled me through some of the crazies... it was a big test.

I really enjoyed your comments! I guess you put to words what I was feeling at the time, though it was more of a gut frustration rather than actual thoughts.

Gordon.

hey there Gordon this is a great shot. I love how you have the cello a different color and how the bow is placed on top of it.

Heyo, thanks! This is the cello's natural color - it stands out much better when everything else is desaturated.

You've got a brilliant looking cello there. :3

How is the tone?

...I find them to be pretty, not just the way they look but their sound.
(That's probably why I play it!)

Very nice!

Kardinin In reply to ladyserenity [2006-04-02 04:07:29 +0000 UTC]

Excellent - another cellist!!

Well, I don't play it as much since school started, so the strings are about 1.5 hrs old, and I probably need new bowhair, too. But when I get fresh strings and hairs, it's very deep and mellow. I would say it's about upper amateur level in terms of sound quality. The sound can really soar at times, but that's if I'm having a good day (implicit: having practiced).

Thanks for the comment
