FACTS 2023 Fall Edition - Flanders Expo, Gent (Belgium) - October 21st & 22nd 2023

Skipping ahead in time, 2013 saw the 5th edition of FACTS held at Flanders Expo, and after an experimental lay-out in 2012, this edition saw the convention expand to include the central hall of Flanders Expo for the first time. This meant that in just 5 editions, the convention surface had expanded from 8000 m² (2009 - 14000 visitors) to 20000 m² (2013 - 30000 visitors). This despite the firm competition by both Made in Asia (Brussels Expo, March 2013) and Japan Expo Belgium (Tour & Taxis, Brussels, November 2013).

New series and fandoms were continuously appearing, very much reflected in the list of guest stars at consecutive editions of FACTS.

In those last pre-third trilogy years, the list of Star Wars guest stars would keep on growing, from familiar old favourites such as Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca, 2015) and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO, 2013) over new faces such as Paul Blake (Greedo, 2012), Dermot Crowley (General Crix Madine, 2012) and one-man crowd Jerome St. John Blake (Rune Haako, Graxol Kelvynn, Horox Ryyder, Mas Amedda, Mik Regrap, Oppo Rancisis, and Orn Free Taa, 2014) to absolute royalty in the form of Princess Leia Organa herself (Carrie Fisher, 2014).

Stargate fans were treated to the presence of Teryl Rothery (2012), Michael Shanks (2013) and Christopher Judge (2015). Arriving at the 2015 edition, after having visited 1985 and 1955, was Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown, Back to the Future). Having attended in 2011, Lou Ferrigno, the original Hulk, returned once more in 2014, while Lord of the Ring's Gimli, John Rhys-Davies, attended in 2015.

But guest stars from new series and franchises would join the line-up as well, from Game of Thrones' Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister, 2012), Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont, 2013), Carice van Houten (Melisandre, 2014) and Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy, 2015); The Walking Dead's Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene, 2012); Prison Break's Robert Knepper (T-Bag, 2014) to many others, too many to list here.

Behind the scenes, though, things were changing. The third edition of Japan Expo Belgium in 2013 would prove to be the last edition ever held, as it had outgrown Tour & Taxis but did not manage to find a suitable location elsewhere. And FACTS and Made in Asia started realising that there was a better way to organise things than trying to out-compete one another...
