I love poor Frida. I can't think of anyone who doesn't, actually; she was a remarkable person. I like the message in this one. It is something I would have liked to say to her.

She's definitely someone close to my heart as well.
During one of my first shows someone commented on a Frida influence - I found it odd seeing as how, at that point, I'd never really seen any of her paintings.
The I went to Portland, OR last Jan and in their amazing book store - I found out that she did art journals as well. So naturally I bought a copy of it. All in Spanish, but it has the translations in the back. Beautiful book. I feel so much closer to her knowing that she did the same.

She is one of my favorite artists too.. I wonder why is it that so many times great art is born out of pain..
π: 0 β©: 1
KanchanMahon In reply to EvaPolly [2011-03-30 20:32:15 +0000 UTC]
Perhaps, for me at least it is a way to escape the pain. For others I think it's about expressing the pain, a catharsis. I'm sure there are so many more reasons ... it is curious.
