Stephen King!Book Cover Illustration for a biography of a famous person. Done for Illustration Techniques with Elaine Verstrae (Fall 2008).

Size: Done on a 30" by 20" I think?
In retrospect I wish the whole piece (clothing and background) were executed in the way I did the face (which I love!). But alas I think working large with colored pencil had something to do with the lack of detail back there.....If done now months later I'd color that background so much different....

I agree with your own assessment, although having the background be so subdued really makes the face pop out at you.
