Description 93 mya in Mexico's Agua Nueva Formation, amidst a cresent moon a juvenile Eagle Shark (Aquilolamna milarcae) narrowly escapes the jaws of a polycotylid plesiosaur (Mauriciosaurus).

I know I generally focus on the Cenezoic era but I've been meaning to do this piece for months now. Polycotylids were basically plesiosaurs trying to become pliosaurs, Mauriciosaurus and Aquilolamna were more or less the same size fully grown at 2m each. The former specialized in feeding on small to medium sized fish perhaps ammonites too. The latter also dubbed the "Eagle shark" was a filter feeding shark relative much like your rays today. Discovered earlier this year it trended all over Twitter for a good while, yet another fascinating discovery of our ancient past.
