Description Volubilis are odd creatures, given their name due to, well, quite a few reasons. The creatures tend to show a spiral-esque theme to their appearance, meaning that, for example: their eyes have an unusual pupil that spans the entire iris, though it may not be obvious. In bright light, their eyes may seem normal, but when dilated, the pupil still remains obvious at the center of the eye...but along the edge it spirals out to the edge of the iris.

One advantage of this is that they can see rather well in the dark. Disadvantage? They can be reaaaaaally sensitive to light.

They are nocturnal by habit, but the more civilized of their kind can be seen during the day-- just often with some sort of eye wear to dim light.

But back to their name. It has two meanings:
- (of speech) rapid, fluent
- rolling, revolving, turning around / changeable, inconstant.

Very suitable for them, pretty much sums up all there is about a Volubilis.
They are very good with speech, able to pick up languages rather quickly-- maybe taking a week at the longest before they could be called fluent. However, it doesn't really matter how fluent they are...they talk fast, very fast sometimes. It takes a lot of practice for them to actually slow down to a pace that others can keep up with.

Another interesting trait about them goes back to the spiral-theme of their appearance: in the wild, they can be found near things that, well, spiral. (Or if they don't, they might because of a Volu's influence). They're not really drawn to all things that turn, though-- you wouldn't see one that would be too fond of a twister, or whirlpool. Those that live in the wild can also be found by looking for strange, twisting structures...often no more complex than a simple hut, but made by weaving materials about and placing them over a simple frame.

Socially, they are often awkward to interact with. Aside from the fast-talking, they like to pace circles around someone when speaking, or even change the subject on a whim...they get easily bored.  So aside from the wild, and simple villages, it's unlikely to see one of their kind.
They also tend to have a problem being around people who are still. They lose interest, and some even seem offended by something as simple as someone resting on a chair during conversation. (Stillness is an insult to them, so making it clear that you won't really be moving about is a sign of disliking the other person in their culture.) “Hold still” Is something that probably shouldn't be said to them, either.

Back to appearance! Their coloration ranges between flat yellows to golds, the spiral of the iris always being a brilliant gold, however. They do have fur, though it's very short on most of the body (sometimes it's accidentally mistaken for their skin). They are human-like in build, they have somewhat long digitigrade legs, but the claws on their feet seem useless-- possibly just a result of evolution and the lacking need for them. However, the claws on their hands are still very functional and very sharp. They also have tails, which habitually wrap around themselves or nearby objects when a Volu is resting. Their ears are somewhat short, but blend in with the hair unless alarmed
Appearance doesn't differ between genders dramatically, at least from a glance. Both have lean frames, showing that running is one of their strengths, whereas brute force isn't something they really have.  Males have longer fur on the elbows, wrists, and across the shoulders (but only in the back! Older Volu sometimes look like they have 'capes'!) Females do not get the 'cape' or puffs on the wrists, but have longer tails.

In the mythological sense, people see them as bad luck, mostly due to encounters turning bad since one doesn't know the other's culture. They're also said to be liars, able to talk circles (har.) around people to get what they want. The shell they weave to make homes are worth a good bit of money, as the materials are often valuable (whether they find or steal the various materials is unknown.) Just don't get caught trying to steal it, they don't appreciate their homes being dragged off for someone's profit.

One inexplicable thing about Volu: if you can get the name of one, it's very likely that it begins with a “V”.
