my anime club at UNM needed a logo to represent them. To this end, they announced an illustration contest; a $25 gift certificate to "rightstuf" online anime store to the drawer of the winning logo. I penciled this in less than an hour, and spent spent the rest of the time until deadline trying to color it just right on photoshop. Everyone submitted their arts, 8 of us in all, and to my dismay, I found that they had printed out and displayed the entrees in black and white. My picture looked all washed up and blended together next to the other's crisp, uncolored drawings. I sat there, sobbing bitterly into my shirt as the world voted for anyone but me. I got third place.
A fellow anime geek consollingly offered these wise words:
"Second place winner is first place loser! hehehehehe"
