Description
The streets of the capital are always eerily quiet, more so in the dead of the night. Buildings everywhere look vacant and abandoned. Occasionally, you would chance upon a lit window here and there. But they are sparse and rare. On a rarer occasion you see a pedestrian on the streets, they are usually found walking alone... never in pairs or more. Even if there's a gathering somewhere, one would rarely witness an ingress of attendants to that particular venue. They always seem... already there... never to be seen entering nor leaving.

I currently reside in Malaysia. And the country is under MCO (Movement Control Order) till end of the month, due to the sudden spike of Covid-19 cases now entering the 4 figure mark. Means streets are unusually quiet even here in the city, especially at night. I live in a smaller capital city on the eastern peninsula. The city looks deserted after nightfall. Most establishments are now ordered to close at 8pm onward. Plus the weather has been glum and rainy these past few days. A stroll outside would have you greeted with cold winds. Thus it all seems eerie, like Stephen King's Langoliers.
Since I've been working remotely for several years now, staying indoors for prolonged periods of time isn't news for me. In fact, more reason for me to continue working on this series. Truth is, there is plenty of time to do things in a 24 hour period. I could fit in watching Netflix, playing some games on my Steam library, dedicating an hour or two on my online studies, attending to work from remote colleagues, painting stuff, even cooking (not instant noodles) in the evening. There is plenty of time if we choose to take time.
