HAHAHAHA.... Ha.... Ha....
Darn. I was hoping no one would notice how large her baby was XD
The kinda sad thing is that everything was pretty well proportioned in the sketch, but somehow, during the painting process, the mother shrank in size, and the baby grew, and I didn't notice until I submitted this piece. I may later, when I get the time, resize the baby, because it's REALLY been bothering me.
Anyways, thanks for the comment! XD

Oh wow I first didn't even notice the second Gerudo hiding behind the pillar.
This piece is really impressive, the background alone is amazing, the stone wall with all the writing, patterns, cracks etc and the statue. The grass growing between the tiles and then the main focus of the Gerudo with the new King standing out.
Also love the different colors on the wall like the green and purple varying a bit but still blending perfectly into the overall picture.

Lol, yes, that Gerudo is good at hiding. A true master, uh, lurker XD
Thank you very much!
I tried really hard to add a bunch of details w/o drowning the main subjects. (I added green grass b/c I knew the green would really pop, and all the background colors come from a childhood experience with feeling bad for all the unused crayons in the box).

Aah! This is so pretty! I absolutely love the detailing on the statue and the wall! And there's something that just keeps drawing my eyes back to the mother, (I'm guessing it's the mother, anyway.) Fantastic job!!!

Beautiful ^^
If there is something that I like about Zelda fanart, is how fans like you not only 'fill' the gaps the games don't care about but also expand them and give them so much depth. Sometimes I think that the more of you Nintendo hired, the better the saga would become ^_^
And I like that you changed your mind - the Lion King-esque version may had looked like a parody, just like it is very difficult to hear 'I am your father' anywhere and take it seriously... or maybe that's just me.

Aw, thank you so much! I really loved WW because it gave Ganondorf more depth--he was just a guy who was like, dang, my homeland sucks, I just want better things for me 'n my people. There was something more to him than just the bad guy (which SS kinda lacked in)
There is just so much backstory in Hyrule, I don't understand why Nintendo doesn't do more with it T__T
Lol, I guess it is a good thing I scrapped my Lion King idea XD

Yea... I mean, at least in Wind Waker, poor Ganny just wanted something better for his people. D:

Nuuu, thank YOUUUUUUUUUUU, cos you're such an amazing person and you're awesome for hosting this contest and getting such AMAZING prizessssssssss!!!!! Thank you so much!!!
I really liked the first one, but for some reason I couldn't finish it and the last one was me when I was thinking drawing babies was too hard. Plus I wanted to draw a horse.
Man, it would be amazing if you could oil paint that (I'm sure it would look a million times better if you did it, cos your art is awesome). Which reminds me, how is your art going? Are your arms a bit better? Can you draw more now?
Anyways, thanks for hosting this contest!

This is truly amazingly done. I'm kind of questioning the grass growing out of the cracks in the floor... in the desert. But it gives a neat effect, so I'd say it was probably just an artistic decision. Well done!

I'm glad you're questioning the grass growing there. Muahahaha. That's what I want.
Now be prepared for a long explanation:
Basically, I think that since Gerudo are mostly all female, they would have all sorts of customs/traditions/beliefs about fertility/their sexuality. I figure that the deity they worship, the Goddess of the Sand, could be a symbol of fertility.
That's why I tried having "symbolism" with the Gerudo woman sitting in the goddess's "lap" holding one of the FEW MALE Gerudo's ever born in their race. This baby is special because it's a boy, AND the Gerudo might have a superstitious belief that part of the reason the baby is a boy is because it was "blessed by the goddess" and born near its statue.
Basically, I'm kinda bringing a parallel to the Chinese guardian lions--they always come in pairs, and depending which one you "rub," you will either get greater fertility or more money, from what I understand, but don't quote me on this (and I'm sure you can find a better explanation online). There are also other statues that people got to for luck/whatever (this example was just the first one that I could think of).
SO, the Sand Goddess is basically like a lucky statue where people go to, thinking they'd get some kind of luck/whatever, but the Sand Statue really actually works. Cos it's Zelda and the Zelda universe is magical. THEREFORE the sprouting grass is a symbol of fertility because Ganny was born! Notice it's proximity to the statue--there is no grass sprouting further than a few feet from the statue.
Also, symbolism with neglect/decay and the renewal of life.
Anyways, that is the reason why I added grass (Other wanting to add a splash of bright green to this piece).
I'm sorry for the long explanation ^^ I just got excited. XD
Thanks for your kind words!!!!

Well, that's really well thought out. I never would have analyzed it so symbolically. But yet, it all makes sense. So basically, you have the talent to come up with stunning symbolism and then actually incorporate it into your art. ENVY. I really wish I was that good. Anyway, it really looks amazing.
