I thought I'd try a self portrait. Turns out I get bored painting myself, so it became a half-ass sketch more than an actual painting.I might move it to scraps soon.

yea, you should go ahead and scrap it... mainly because it makes me feel inferior as an artist, haha!! you (if the portrait is accurate) and your portrait are beautiful. best of luck in your future pieces.

great work! The hair seems too sharp though, especialy compared to your soft face. I would of blurred the hair a lot more personally!

An amazing image.
Not sure how you can consider it as a "half-ass sketch more than an actual painting" or even think of moving it into your "scraps" bin? (O_o)
This piece, in an of itself, can (and does) trump a lot of other works that have been submitted to deviantART, that quite frankly, don't merit the attention or praise that THIS image should merit.
Picture came out extremely lifelike (just look at the depth of detail in the strands of hair) and your profile is most pleasing to the eye.

same, i dont get the same thrill painting myself that i do when painting others or from my mind
havnt been able to get round to finishing a selfP since i started it a little under a year ago - always drone out and start drawing somthing else

Don't. It's not a scrap. Whenever you paint yourself, there's always an honesty in it, even when you try to lie. You captured something that maybe only others can see.
