Entry for the contest, the theme is to take a previously made piece of art and re-do it to show your progress as an artist.

The piece I chose is this [link] which at the time I probably thought was really good and now I'm just embarrassed over (and seriously, that title...)

Funnily enough, I did that piece as a re-do of another piece ([link] ) so I guess in 6 years time, I'll re-do this new piece and it'll be even better... unlikely though.

Since this is meant to showcase all that I've learnt in the past 6 years, I didn't want this to simply be an exercise in re-drawing and re-painting the same image, I wanted to incorporate a little basic design knowledge as well, so I did some thumbnail work to establish a decent composition and worked with different colours until I got to something I kind of liked.

I'm somewhat pleased with how this came out, with a bit more time I would likely do a little bit more, but like with all the work I do, I tend to bite off more than I can chew. If this were simply a picture of a sword, it would have been great, but with the tree and leaves and the grass (oh the grass...), it's not as good as I would like.
